§ 152-21. Duties of landowners.

  • A. 
    All property owners of land on which fire hydrants are located shall maintain a clear area of at least 24 inches around the vertical plane of the hydrant whenever snow accumulation around the hydrant exceeds six inches in height.
    B. 
    All property owners of land abutting the intersection of any street, road or highway which the Township Supervisors have a duty to maintain shall at all times maintain and preserve the normal intersectional sight clearances by trimming or removing natural vegetation or plant growth on their property up to the line of the Township or state right-of-way.
    C. 
    [Added 8-6-1996 by Ord. No. 155] Township Road Department snow removal crews shall be authorized to plow and/or clear the following areas:
    (1) 
    Areas designated by the Board of Supervisors as alternate parking areas.
    (2) 
    Private roads, driveways, lanes when a fire or medical emergency exists and access for fire apparatus or ambulances must be provided. In such situations, residents shall be subsequently charged and invoiced for the cost of providing such plowing and/or clearing services.
    (3) 
    The apron and parking areas of the Greenfields Fire Station.
    D. 
    The Board of Supervisors shall provide, install and maintain flags or other suitable markers of appropriate design and height for all fire hydrants so that the same may be readily located in accumulated snow or in other inclement weather.
